Review – L’Oreal Paris ”6 Oil Nourish” Nourishing Shampoo + Conditioner

Hey you guys! Today I am going to do a super quick and much awaited review. This one was pending for ages. So I am finally going to share my thoughts on this product.
So when this particular product came out, it instantly filled my news feed up! Everyone was buying and testing out this range. Yes, I am talking about L’Oreal Paris 6 Oil Nourish Shampoo and Conditioner. But does it delivers results or was it just a hype? Let’s find out!
This shampoo comes in a 175 ml or 360 ml yellow-brown bottle. This ‘6 oil nourish’ was recently introduced with shampoo, conditioner and a serum/oil to enhance volume, shine and improve your hair quality. It includes a mixture of 6 different oils to target specific hair woes, such as:
  • Argan Oil for Strengthening hair
  • Coconut Oil for Thickening hair
  • Almond Oil for smoothing
  • Jojoba Oil for Shine
  • Olive Oil for softening
  • Camelina Oil for making hair manageable

The Shampoo

To be very honest, I do not think that any shampoo can change your hair texture or help solve different problems. It’s just a mixture of bunch of chemicals, intended to only clean your hair. I tried out this shampoo just because, and I couldn’t really get the hype about it. It sure smells nice, and is a mustard-coloured formula, but it really doesn’t drastically changes hair quality. I sure did notice my hair behaving and being more manageable, but a shampoo can never ever replace the goodness of natural oils.

The Shampoo (175 ml)

The Conditioner

I actually liked the conditioner more than the shampoo. It makes your ends super soft and trust me I have very dry ends! HOWEVER, the effect lasts only for a day or two. Your hair is then back to its same old condition. It also smells reaalllyy nice!

The Conditioner (175 ml)

Overall Experience
So overall, I won’t say it is something AMAZING, but it is quite okay-ish for the price it is being offered at. I haven’t really tried the oil with the kit, so can’t really say much about that. But this duo is something I won’t be buying again. Summing up,

You’ll like this duo if :
You are looking for a low-budget shampoo and conditioner
You have normal to oily hair
You want an easily available shampoo and conditioner
Your hair is almost perfect
You are not suffering from any major hair issues

You will not like this duo, if:
You have super duper dry hair
You have dry ends
You are suffering from major hair loss or issues

Price and Availability
I purchases the 175 ml Shampoo for PKR 200 and 175 ml Conditioner for PKR 235. The whole range is widely available everywhere, and also on many online pages.

Hair Care for Hijabis

Hey girls!
When I first started wearing Hijab, I thought I was going to go bald! My hair fell a LOT, my head hurt so much until I found out I’ve been doing it wrong the whole time. I eventually learnt from experience and experimenting that there are ways to minimise the hair loss, by properly tying your hair and taking good care of it! And since then, my hair has never been much better! So I’m going to share some of my tried and tested tips for my fellow Hijabis too.

1. Tie your hair correctly
The first and foremost thing is to tie your hair in a proper way. Make sure it’s not too tight, and not so high. If you have silky hair or baby hairs on forehead which come out easily, use of under cap helps.

2. Use a hair-friendly material
For both under caps and your hijab, choose a material that’s not stiff and hard and is easily breathable. Chiffon, cotton works well. Also, wash your under caps regularly.

3. Volume is not an answer
Sure, a lot of hijabis like their hijabs sky-high! Not only is this religiously incorrect, but also medically it puts a lot of strain on your hair, head and neck. So, avoid using flower clips on a daily basis. Instead opt for scrunches (which are like normal ponies) or using different hijab techniques.

Scrunchies

4. Dry your hair first
Never, ever, ever wear a hijab on wet hair. Always dry your hair first. Use a blow dryer. It’s better to wear it on dirty than wet hair.

5. Treat your hair every now and then
Every weekend, pamper your hair with some home made goodies. Oiling your hair is the BEST option. Use egg, mayonnaise, aloe vera gel, apple cider vinegar, tea or henna to condition your hair.

6. Oils are your best friend
They certainly are mine! If you can’t find one, mix in 2-3 oils to create an amazing concoction. Once every week, sit in sun and massage your hair for a good 20 minutes, to boost up your circulation. This is going to make your hair AMAZING and feels sooo good. Trust me!

7. Keep up with general hair care
Just because you cover your hair doesn’t mean you should not care for it.
Always comb your hair before tying your hair or after taking off your hijab.
Trim your hair regularly. This also helps get rid of split ends and brittle ends and makes your hair look fresh and neat.

8. Use traditional methods
Once in a while, let your hair loose and sit under sun. Also, at the comfort your home, keep your hair in a loose brain/bun or if it’s short, let it stay open. Let it relax for sometime too!

9. Increase uptake of water, proteins and vitamins
For great hair, it is extremely important to fulfil your daily nutritional requirements. Increase your uptake of water, eat clean and healthy, and don’t forget to take your vitamins! (Consult a doctor first) Increase vegetables, fish, fruits, nuts in your diet. Avoid sugar, carbs, fast food, junk and sodas.

10. Never underestimate the power of your hijab
Seriously, hijab is an amazing blessing for your hair! No need to straighten, curl it or subject it to extreme chemicals. So easy to hide those dirty strands too (In case you’re feeling lazy :p) So much time is saved! Also, it is easy to cover any bad dye job. Awesome right?

No bad hair day any more! We have bad hijab day :p

So my lovelies, hope this was helpful! These tips certainly have helped me a LOT! Let me know what you guys think 🙂

Review : Himalaya Herbals Protein Hair Cream

Hey girls! Hope everybody is doing great and enjoying summers. So today, I thought about sharing my views on this product! Let’s get started 😀
I love my hair, and i absolutely love treating it every now and then. So I got this ‘protein hair cream’ without any reason. I am not a huge fan of using chemicals on my hair. But this one didn’t disappoint me!
Why ‘Protein’ treatment?
Protein is a building block of your hair. It helps repair and regenerate your hair and also makes it softer and more manageable. Providing it externally in form of creams or shampoos makes your hair shinier, softer and damage-free. This is an extremely cheap and easy alternative to expensive salon hair treatments and very easy to do in the comfort of your home!
Product Description
So this protein cream comes in a small 140ml jar. The cream itself has a very soft, creamy feel to it.
Main ingredients
Chickpea, Wheatgram and Amla are the main ingredients in this cream. It provides the hair with nourishment, and repairs the hair. Amla helps promote hair growth.

How to use
Okay, so since this is in a form of cream, you just need to slightly massage it on your scalp, concentrating it on your roots. Leave it for half and hour and wash as usual!
My thoughts
Okaayy, as I mentioned before, this was again one of those products I never even heard before of and bought it. My first thought was, that my hair felt much much softer, specially my ends. To be clear, the results were not that ‘drastic’ but much noticeable. I use it after every 2 weeks or so, and do I love it or not? It definitely has made my hair healthier and more softer. And guess what, I am done with my first jar 😉
The creamy texture

Summing it up,

You’ll like it if:
You have dry hair
Experiencing hair fall
Want to repair your hair
Want to make your hair softer and shinier
Very easy to use and easily washes off
Good replacement for salon treatments
Easily available
Very very affordable
What’s not to like:

If your hair is very oily, might not give great results

Availability
Available easily in departmental and on line stores.

Cost
140ml jar for PKR300 (Prices may vary)

Would I recommend?
It’s a yes!

Review : Nivea Daily Essentials Gentle Face Wash

Hey girls! Hope everybody is doing great.
Today, I’m going to be doing a quick review on this Face Wash from Nivea. When it comes to the company, I’m sure we all are well acquainted. Everybody has/is using the typical blue container nivea cream, aren’t/haven’t you? With a wide range of products ranging from skin care to hair care, this company is definitely amongst one of the pioneers.

I don’t know if you can tell, but I am not much of a face wash person. I tend to buy a simple product rather than something fancy. This was impulsively bought – I had no time to do a background search, or to look up as to what the products do.

Product Description
The product comes in a 150-ml bottle. It’s specifically made for Dry to Sensitive Skin. It has a creamy texture to it.

Main Ingredients

Main products are Almond Oil and Hydra IQ, made for moisturising and calming the skin.
Main Ingredients

Creamy Texture

My Impression
As I said, I had to buy quickly and couldn’t really research about it. My first thought was, that Almond Oil is moisturising so this product will be a great treat for my dry skin. But, the results were totally opposite!
Honestly, the first time I used the product, I felt like I was washing my face with the Nivea cream! The texture is so smooth and creamy, it doesn’t feels anything like a face wash! My skin is dry, but even for me this was really oily. It’s great for moisturising, but for cleaning? not at all. My face wasn’t clean at all, even though I used it in winters when my skin is the driest. My skin felt unclean, oily and I had a bit of acne too. Such a no for me! I loovee Nivea products, but this was the first time I had a bad experience with it.

So, You’ll like the product IF:
You’re skin is super super suuuuppperr dry
You’re not allergic to almonds
You have a sensitive skin

You won’t like it IF:
You have an Oily skin
Allergic to almonds
Really want a good cleanser
Price can be an issue
Not easily available

Price and Availability
This 150-mL bottle cost me around PKR 500+ (Prices may vary). Not sure if it is available in Pakistan, as I bought it from abroad.

Would I recommend it?
Definitely not buying it EVER, and not recommending it.

Review : Himalaya Herbals Protein Shampoo & Conditioner

Hey girls, hope you’re doing great 🙂

So, I thought I’d do a quick review on my most used, and currently favourite shampoo! It’s none other than Protein Shampoo from Himalaya Herbals!

Well, I have been using multiple products from this company. They never cease to amaze you. The shampoo itself is an amazing example of that!

A ‘protein shampoo’ is different from a regular shampoo as it provides your hair with more moisture, helping it to repair from damage and also grow out.

Almost a year and a half back, I randomly bought this shampoo with the same theory in my mind – that the protein is going to help restore my dry ends, and help grow my hair! Since then, I’m on my 5th bottle and do I love it or do I love it??

Volume and Bounce

There are different varieties in the protein shampoo itself:
1. Volume and bounce
2. Repair and Regenerate

3. Softness and Shine

You can choose according to what you desire to do for your hair. Also, if you pair it up with the conditioner, the duo is perfect! The conditioner makes your hair super soft and manageable. I just started using it recently, and realized what I have been missing out on!

And oh, did I mentioned that it helped so much in growing my hair!

SHAMPOO
CONDITIONER
What’s to like,
Helps repair your hair
Helps to grow out hair
Make hair soft and manageable
Reduces hair fall (Not a drastic change)
Moisturises super dry hair
Makes your hair bouncy and volumized (A little)
Great for coloured/permed hair
Free from parabens and synthetic colours
Easy Availability
Very affordable
What’s not to like,
If your hair is super oily, it may cause it to become a little greasy
If you use hair oil, it might not come out easily in one wash
Availability and Cost
Easily Available throughout Pakistan, and also on every other on-line shop!
200ml bottle (Shampoo & Conditioner separately) for Rs.170-210 (Prices may vary)
Overall Rating
5/5
Would I buy again?
Yes and YES!
Hope this helps!
Much love,

How to take care of color treated/bleached hair

Hi guys! Hope you all are doing great. 🙂

So, I thought i’d share some tips and advice for people with color treated or bleached hair. Hair colouring has become a norm nowadays, so it is important to know how to look after your hair after you’ve coloured them!

Why is colouring harmful for my hair?
Most of the hair dyes available have Ammonia in them. It really helps to bring out the colour, however, it can also absorb moisture from your hair therefore causing it to become dry, brittle and look frazzled.

Pre-Colouring Tips
1. First and foremost, look for a product without any Ammonia.
2. Find the perfect shade accordingly.
3. If it’s the first time you’re colouring, take some help from a professional. Later on, you can experiment on your own once you’ve gathered enough knowledge about what to do.
4. Do a patch test to check if you’re allergic or not.
5. If you’re going for bleach, choose a good hair bleach available in market.
6. Before bleaching, you can cover your ends/hair in coconut oil to reduce the harm.
7. Remember, always colour/bleach on dirty hair. The natural oil in your hair can protect it from the chemicals. It’s a win-win!

Post-Colouring
1. After colouring, use the conditioner provided in the box.
2. Wash with a good quality colouring shampoo. They are formulated specially for coloured hair, without any harsh chemicals! Some of the options are:

3. Reduce your hair wash regime. Shampoo it after 2 days or so. If your hair is oily, you can use dry shampoos, or basic talcum power or Cornstarch to hide those oily strands.
4. If you’re going for a swim, protect your hair by a cap since the chlorine in the pool can be harmful for your strands

5. If your hair turns dry/brittle, go for deep-conditioning or protein treatments. Some at-home treatments you can do:
i. Egg and Banana mixture

ii. Egg and Olive Oil Mixture
iii. Regularly oil your hair
iv. Apply Mayonnaise to your hair (YES it works 100%)

6. You can also get a protein hair treatment done professionally from a salon. Also, to make your colour vibrant, go for gloss treatments!

Touch-Ups
If you absolutely need to colour again (hiding grey hair or your roots start showing), you can go for a touch up once every month or so. However, don’t forget to follow these tips to make sure your mane stays healthy and shiny!

Hope this helped you guys in some way.

Don’t forget to leave your comments 🙂

Much love,
xo.
